Qigong

Meditation in motion

Qigong is an ancient Chinese practice inspired by the healing rhythms and movements of nature, combining flowing movement, deep relaxation and breathing. As one does the movements, the body relaxes completely and the body is brought into a state of harmony and balance.

Qigong is an ‘internal Art’, which has  been passed down from generation to generation for over three thousand years. It can give you far more than a means of improving or restoring health.  It will influence every aspect of your life. The result will be a balanced body, stable emotions, thereby relieving stress in your life. It is the inter-exchange of Qi between people and the universe, thereby balancing Yin & Yang.

The exercises, a combination of movements, deep relaxation and breathing, will improve and balance circulation, stimulate the internal organs, increase your energy, thereby strengthening your immune system and rejuvenating your body.

Qigong brings us back to nature, enabling us to stay away from what is artificial and letting the natural senses return. Our bodies are like the universe. We too are covered by many stars. Each star has its work to do and influences the whole body and its balance. These stars are our acupuncture points and the orbits are our channels. (meridians).

The beauty of the movements lies in the fact that everyone, whatever their age or state of fitness can learn and enjoy. It is an ongoing training and a way of life.

With the practice of Qigong it is the heart that leads the Qi and subsequently the Qi leads the mind. When the heart is open, it merges with nature and the universe. With true Qigong, understanding from the heart will come, which leads to a natural life rooted in unconditional love. To better the quality of our spiritual lives, human hearts must open. Unconditional love is the key that unleashes the power of Qi.

With regular practice, Qigong can have the following benefits:

  • promote health

  • relieve stress and calm the mind

  • boost the immune system

  • enhance blood circulation

  • balance posture strengthen the mind and energise the body

Everyone, whatever their age, stage or state of fitness, can learn Qigong and enjoy it. The movements are gentle to the body and easy to learn. (by Ruth Kirby)
